Music for Young Audiences

Background "B"

Setting the standard in music education for children and young people for more than 35 years.

A love of music does not develop by chance. The works of Johann Sebastian Bach, with their often highly complex structures, require attentive listening. Yet the joy of listening and a genuine enthusiasm for music can be nurtured and shared.

Recognising this, the Salzburg Bach Society became a pioneer in music education as early as 1981, regularly presenting and hosting concerts for young audiences and their families. Since then, around 47,000 children and young people have discovered music ranging from the Gothic period to the present day through more than 200 concerts. These events have included numerous world premieres as well as debut performances by young and very young musicians who have since become internationally acclaimed artists, including Benjamin Schmid, Franz Welser-Möst and Martin Grubinger.
