Fifty Years of Bach in Mozart’s City of Salzburg!

In our anniversary season 2025/2026, we celebrate 50 years of music and passion, and warmly invite you to celebrate with us!

Nikolaus Harnoncourt’s groundbreaking insight that music is a concrete language of sound has been a guiding thread throughout our history. In this anniversary year, we place this idea at the very centre of our programme.

With Monteverdi, this language of sound reached one of its earliest peaks. At the Baroque Festival in the DomQuartier, we bring his L’Orfeo back to life at the original venue of its first performance outside Italy. In a journey of the soul, Orfeo experiences the full spectrum of human emotions, from the highest joys to the deepest sorrows. This journey continues in the opening concert of our anniversary year, Affetti Musicali, featuring the expressive madrigal collections of Monteverdi and Bernardi.

Bach brought the art of musical rhetoric to perfection. His cello suites are pure sound language, capable of speaking directly to us without the need for words. In the Christmas Oratorio and the St Matthew Passion, an entire universe of sound unfolds, allowing us to experience the greatest emotional heights and depths.

Finally, The King’s Singers open the door to the world of Romanticism, where personal emotions, longings, and passions find their voice through the expressive power of music.
